This scholarship was established in memory of George B. and Bertha J. Knecht as a means to “give back” to the residents of the West Pittston community where George grew up. George and Bertha Knecht were married for 45 years and called Stamford, CT their home since 1940.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a resident of West Pittston;
- Must be a graduating senior from either Wyoming Area High School, Holy Redeemer High School, West Side CTC, or homeschooled;
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree at any accredited college/university, career training center, or vocational training institution as a full-time student;
- Must have a proven record and commitment of helping others within his/her community;
- Must show demonstrated financial need;
- Must have minimum 2.5 GPA.
