John and Barbara Sobeck Charitable Fund

The John & Barbara Sobeck Charitable Fund was established in 2008 to assist locally based nonprofit agencies in continuing to provide specialized support services to residents of the greater Luzerne County area. The Sobecks view their personal and corporate contributions as a means of "giving back to the community that has given us so much."

For many years John Sobeck had demonstrated an interest in giving back to the community. His Company, First General Services of NE Pa, sponsored an annual golf tournament with all proceeds being turned to a local non-profit agency. As the tournament grew in size and popularity, the proceeds grew also. In 2008, the event grew to such a size that multiple organizations could share in the proceeds.
