Grants

The Luzerne Foundation is a nonprofit corporation whose primary purpose is to build a charitable reserve of capital for current and future needs of Luzerne County. It administers a community endowment comprised of many gifts, large and small, and it achieves its purpose through grants in support of other non-profit organizations and community programs.

Strategic grants are offered in the areas of education, health and human services, the environment and the arts. Preference will be given to proposals submitted by non-profit organizations within Luzerne County, particularly those projects representing a collaborative effort of service providers and those likely to gain support from matching fund arrangements.

During its existence, The Luzerne Foundation has made grants to more than 300 organizations including those listed here..

Grant applications are accepted and reviewed twice yearly, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Spring applications must be submitted by April 7th and selections will be made May 13th; Fall applications must be submitted by October 15th and selections will be made by December 15th.
