The Luzerne Foundation (TLF) was established in 1994 as a community foundation to help philanthropy-minded people of Luzerne County leave their mark. As one of 700 such organizations across the U.S., TLF helps donors make meaningful contributions to causes they support, now and forever.

Making it matter. Imagine a three-legged stool designed to support community needs. The Luzerne Foundation...
1. accepts contributions from all segments of the population;
2. awards grants to a wide variety of regional causes including arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services and recreation;
3. with the motto Here for good., identifies areas of community concern and serves as a facilitator to provide solutions and ensure that the money goes to where it is most needed.

The benefits are many. The process simplified. TLF donors benefit from being part of an $8.5 million pool of assets, with the ability to hire top investment managers. An attractive alternative to starting a private foundation, TLF staff handle all record keeping, IRS filings, audit and legal work, and investment management.

Getting started is easy. All gifts -- small and large -- are welcome. TLF uses $10,000 as the minimum for an endowed fund. However, donors may begin a Fund with as little as $1,000 and build it to $10,000 within five (5) years. TLF accepts a variety of assets.

Choosing your legacy. The donor has the ability to be as involved as he or she wishes in the grantmaking process. Gifts can be named or anonymous.
